bullshit.
it works fine in the PAL V3. the problem is tha laser. V3 is the oldest PAL model, and if a neo 2.2 had been installed before, the laser is usually weakened. it still works, but you might have problems reading dvd-r. that has nothing to do with the chip or PS2, only the laser.
