Audio cd-r's are special cd-r's made for audio cd recorders. You can also use them with a regular cd writer, but why the hack would you want to do that? Regular cd-r's are cheaper and tests have shown that they work even better than the expensive audio cd-r's.

So you only need to use audio cd-r's if you have a standalone audio cd recorder.

Audio CDr's are used to make master from DAT or Mini disc.
Then you use master to make more CD on standard CD R.
