I know that this question has been asked a thousand times, so sorry....
I also have a Playstation. With the Playstation I soldered in a MOD chip and I use CDRWIN to simply make backups of games. No fuss no muss, easy as can be. I now have purchased a PS2. I have been doing some reading and I see it's not that easy. Especially with DVD games. I have a DVD-RW burner so... Here comes the Question... If I purchase the NEO2.5 MOD chip and a Game Shark can I use copies of CD-R and DVD-R games by just using a simple copy program like CDRWIN or CloneCD? Or do I still have to use a swap trick or some other pain in the butt method. Wadoki

Thanks for the input.
You are correct I am ntsc. I don't have a gameshark as of yet. When you click on the AD for the NEO 2.5 it tells you you have to use a game shark to make it work. I prefer not to have to purchase it. I am currently using CloneCD and CDRWIN for my image creation and burning software. NERO is one that I use for all my other needs. So to clarify: If I purchased the no-solder mod for the V5 (not sure if that is the version I have) I can run both PS1 and PS2 backups that are CD-R and DVD-R. Could you provide a link where to purchase the item you stated? Thanks. |

there is no way to get around the need for an AR/GS or region X (the latter will not play dvd-r games). the only chips that can boot them without a swap are the neo 4 + origa combination (both chips together), and the messiah.

dust2dust and charlie can get you the messiah.
for the AR2/region X, most videogame stores (online or local) should sell them.
