Chip Challenge

I heard that they releaded two versions of the Solderless modchip at www.modchips.com

One is for V5 and one for V6 PS2s, the only way they show you of knoing whether your PS2 is a V5 or V6 is by opening it. Anybody know any other way of telling? I have a 30001-R, anybody know definately which chip I will need? (V5 or V6) or is it possible that some 30001-R will be V5 and some V6?

Also for anybody that already has this chip installed, how well does it work? Are there any booting, reading, cd lazer adjustement problems?

Thanks

Warlock is on a distinguished road
The 30001-r can be a v4 or a v5 console. The v6 has been released but is not to well in circulation yet. you must take the top cover off to determine if it's a v5 or v6. From what data i have found on the v6 it seems to be the same board as the v5 only the ribbon cables have been reversed.
