Exclamation AVI File is too big. Pls Help

After ripping and converting the dvd files to avi, the AVI file comes out more than 1 GB. I have tried lowering the video bitstream and all the other options but still the file comes out way to big. I am using SmartRipper 2.25 and FlaskMpeg 0594. When it comes to converting the files, I select to convert using the Divx 5 codec, other options that are there are MPEG4 v1, MPEG4 v2 and several other ones that I have no idea what they are. The movie length is 1h52min.
Can someone please tell me how to reduce the avi size. I have alreay tried lowering the bit rate all the way down to 100 but that didnt help.

Thanks
Steve

Exclamation

First of all, my opinion is that you make the movie into 2 cds because it is quite long. Anyway if you insist on 1 cd it's ok with me. What you are saying is quite odd. The only possible reason that i can think of is you not compressing the sound. Did you compress the sound? Did you make it mp3?

When making a movie always check what your calculator tells you.
you should download a calculator (it tells you how much bitrate to use). for a 112 min movie 725 bitrate is good (80cd).
