A little advice please guys!

Hello everyone,

I'm new to the dvdr world but have been burning cdr's since the old days (1xwrite with a £15 blank).

Just a few questions please.

I'm using (guess what) an A03, I need to know about blank dvdr,
just how cheap can you go before the ps2 won't read the disk i.e. fmv jumping.

I tried some cheap (£1.2 each) blanks writen using primo dvd,
they boot on my baby but as I say the fmv skips big time.

Can the laser be adjusted? or do I need better blanks.

I have used branded (pioneer, verbatuim) they work 100%

I've seen makes like branded princo for £2, any body tried these or something in the same price range.

I'm using a v30003r with messiah clone.

Great forum,
Thanks for the advice.

Hi dust2dust,

Yes, I'm using firmware 1.68 already.
I guess these blanks are just no good for ps2 games.

I did look into adjusting the laser, but on the v5 ps2 its a long job and as you say the game won't run good on other peoples ps2's anyway.

I'll try some cheap branded dvdr's and dvdrw's and post the results.

Thanks for the reply!

I'm with Dust's view.

I use Princo and burn at 1x to ensure that they read on both the old Jap PS2 and the v5.

mgc-bb, DON'T mess around with your laser. It's v5 and too new to mess with.

You'll also get perfect results at 2x with Apple media but that's £4.50 apiece.

Princo's fine for me at 1x.

Hi guys!

Ok, I've ordered some branded princo dvdr's (£2 ea)
Also I've been told that DATASAFE DVDRW'S (£2.50 ea) work well on v5's and of course if they don't you can always try again! I'll let you know the result.

I think I'll leave my laser alone (thanks Charlie) and just try the better blanks.

Different question:

Are these VGA convertors any good? I was hoping to be able to increase the resolution when playing games on my projector.

Cheers,

Hello everyone!

DVD media update!

Ok, got my test blanks.

Branded princo dvdr's just wont play well on my ps2.
The datasafe dvdrw's work 100% (if your ps2 can read them) and the games run like its on a verbatim dvdr!!

At around £2.50 a go they a bargin and of course you can re-write to them!

Hope this helps!
