Newbie Question Sorry - IDE Settings

I've recently purchased a Lite On Writer to replace my old HP8100 writer and am having a slight problem with the settings

On my sec channel I've got my new CD writer set up as master and my DVD player as reader which seems OK

On my primary my hard drive is master and I've added the old HP writer as slave . This all seems to wotk OK with alldrives recognised BUT XP now takes about 5 minutes to boot up

Any-one offer a solution

Cheers
Fred

IT depends on how old you system is. With newer hardware, with a HDD and a CDrom on a drive, they won;t slow each other down, because they have a thing called indepnedent timing, so teh hdd runs on its pace and the cdrom on its pace.
