Question Version of ps2 and bootchip

Hi

I just bought a ps2 a week ago. I want to install a bootchip but cant find out which version my ps2 is. I've been surfing a lot of webpages and cant seem to find anyone that describes my ps2.
The Model-no is SCPH-30004 R
The serial starts with C46 and ends with 017 if thats of any use. Anybody who can tell me which version I got (I suspect it to be v5 as the ps2 is brand new)

And what bootchip should i choose?
I've read something about using action replay for booting up the backups. Is this with the bootchip or must I buy it seperate?

Thanks in advance

There's been a lot said on this topic of i d ing your console and you can look back in the other threads if your still not sure.
Here's one easy check , pull of the expansion bay cover at the back,
if it's made of plastic and thin metal strip it's a v4 board inside.
If it's just plastic then it's a v5 board.
Like i said there are other checks regarding srews and stuff but this seems an easy way to me.
If you can get hold of the Messiah clone and you should be able to.
See Charlie or Dust to Dust, then you won't need anything else to boot up with.
The chips are remarkable and direct boot everything,
you won't even know it's in there.
Hope this helps.

Okay, I pulled of the cover for the expansion bay and it was all platic so It's a v5 I've got.
I've read some of the other posts regarding the messiah chip and as I understand it, it should be very hard to install as I got no experince solding what so ever.
I dont know if I can anyone around me to fit it!
What does the chip cost?

Look anyware on the forum for Charlie or Dust to Dust and click on there profile.
By doing this (if it's enabled) you will be able to email them direct to discuss your requirements and the terms/prices etc.
If you can't get in touch this way start a new thread asking.
Charlie how much for a Messiah?
He'll soon be in touch and if he sees this he'll respond anyway.
Hope this helps.

I'm sure he will do, Charlie and his mates are a good crew and will definately look after you.
I've just got mine back from them and it works great.
Hope it turns out okay for you .
