AVI 2 MPEG???

I´ve downloaded the movie "Planet of the apes", it´s an avi file, but how do I convert it to mpeg? I´ve tried with Honestech mpeg encoder but it doesn´t work. What do you recomend?

You can use TMPGEnc which you can get from vcdhelp.com you should check this web site out because it has great guides to converting avi to mpg or dvd to vcd
