Question Red alert 2 no cd

i have dl the no cd thing by groza and i have done what it told me (install patch v1.006, copy mix files, replace Ra2.exe, and use the crack to remove the cd check.) and whenever i try to start it up, it goes to the statue of liberty screen then says it failed to initialize. can anyone help me, i don't like to use the cd because it takes forever to load on win 2000 pro.

No doubt you have checked it will run in Win 2k, I used to have Win 2k and found a lot of games would not run with it as not really designed for gameplay.

Now using XP Pro and so far (touch wood) have not found a game that will not play in it (assuming all my other PC specs meet the requirements)

Do you have a system with 98 on it to test if CD (patch or otherwise) it will run

Has anyone only tried installing game then using the instructions for no CD patch ?

May find that the update (1.006 .. I assume this is an official patch) has other code in it and so using this and then the no cd patch may only work as no cd patch could be for an earlier version.

Try just installing game from the CD and using the instructions for no CD patch only ... no other update or patch of any kind

it works in w2k, and the instructions tell you exactly what to do, and this is exactly what i did

Install the game - Full Installation.
Apply the official C&C: Red Alert 2 v1.006 [ENGLISH] Patch.
Copy all *.MIX files from both CDs to the game directory.
Replace the original RA2.EXE executable with the one from the Patch Archive.
Extract the RA2V1006CRK.EXE Patch to the game directory.
Execute the Patch to remove the CD-Check from: GAME.EXE

after i did that, it wouldn't work

Have you tried to install and play game without all the patches etc ?

Are you using an original or backup ?

I ask the above as if the game runs o.k. without the patches then perhaps there is a fault with the patch (I assume you do have RA2 and not RA2 Uri's Revenge ... silly question I know but has to be asked)

If the game does not play then could be a fault with game being installed onto hard drive (if a backup then could be some files missed when burning) or perhaps your PC specs do not meet the min requirements ... have you been to the website (I believe Westwood) to see if there is a solution to the problem (someone else may have had the same prob and Westwood (or whoever) have solved it.

Sorry, but all I can come up with at moment
