DVD-R Media Type

What is the best media to use for backups and where is the best place to get them (price wise)?

Cheers.

I don't know what's 'best', but so far I have used the following brands successfully:

Pioneer (the one that came with the drive)
Apple
Memorex

It would appear you're probably safe with any real branded media (TDK, Memorex, Apple, Pioneer, etc). I paid like $5.70 or so an Apple disc and like $6.65 for the Memorex (however, these were single, retails).

Hope this helps.
