newbie needs help?????

Hello All,

I recently jumped off the game backup bridge and have had a small amount of success( made backups of motx2002 & espn xgames skateboarding) and they work. I have a ps2 w/ usbmod. My questions at this point are re: easports patches.
1. I have been trying to use ppf o matic 2.0 and keep getting this error:filesize of the bin file does not match the withe the filesize of the ppf patch.... I have created the .bin file using cdrwin. I am following the tutorial written by mOz. PLease help..
2. Once I do get the ppf patcher to work correct do I need to burn a backup of the game first nad then add the patch to this? This doesnt seem correct to me but I am unclear and need to ask. Thanks Smike69

you copy an image of the game to the HD first and then u apply the patch with ppf-o-matic. after that is done then u burn the image to cdr.

tankie
Thumbs up

despite many posts on here telling you different the easiest method by far for most games is to use clone cd with approriate settings as this will produce 1to1 copies without the need for patching

Tankie is 100% correct. Your reader/burner have to be fully caompatible (RAW-DAO+96).

On the 1st question you are applying a patch that was not made for the BIN that you have gor. EIther the game version is different or the region. Either way, the patch must have been made for the identical game version.

(So does this mean that I can make backups for ea goames without having to patch them first?)

(How can I verify this info pryor to making a backup?)

I'm pretty sure that when using a USB mod the game has to be EA patched anyway regardless of whether you've used clone cd or not. Also when making a bin image with CDRWIN make sure to untick the RAW mode box (most of the EA patches are designed to work on a non RAW image). I know this to be a fact because when I switched froma NEO 2.2 to NEO 4 I had to re-copy & patch every EA sports game I owned(all the original copies were done with Clone CD from originals & they still didn't work)

Hope this helps.

If you can't find the patches you want on psxcopyworld try

www.gamefreax.de

It has a pretty good collection.
