Protected PS2 Games
How do I find out if a game is protected and will require patches? If there is a site, what do I click on on that site? Thanx

www.megagames.com is your best bet. Click on PS2 Patches and if the game you want to copy is listed look at what type of patch is available. If it is just a swap patch it most likely doesn't have protection.
Using Clonecd you don't need to patch games as it copies the game 1:1 so I would advise using this to save you time and effort patching. |

So ur saying that if I use CloneCD, rather than say, CDRwin, there is no need to apply patches to games that need patches? I could just place the PS2 game CD in the CD-R and copy it directly and it would work?

Also, what is a swap patch? If it (the game) is not protected, then y would I need a swap patch??

With Clonecd you just make a copy of the cd and boot it with AR2 or Region-X. It copies the game 1:1 including the protection so that the game does not need patching. The swap trick patch is for people not using a chip in their playstation and instead opting for the risky Knife and Cog methods of running backups.
If you decide to use another writing program and are unsure if its protected leave a post asking and if someone knows they will tell you what you need and where you can get it. For a clonecd guide see www.psxcopyworld or www.sgt-dan.com If you need any more help just post Sim |
