no solder mod patch?

Hey

Just a quick question
I have a burner thats fully compatible with clonecd so i used that to make a few 1:1 backups
I have just ordered a no solder mod for my ps2 and was wondering weather i need to use nomod patches if im using the no solder chip? It kinda makes sense i guess because its not really a "mod ship" so to speak

just thought i would check with some of the more knowledgeable ppl on here as im realitivly new to the ps2 scene

Cheers

I'm a relative noob here myself, but I can tell ya what I've observed so far 1st hand.

I too own a 'No-Solder' mod (in fact, installed it this AM) on a V5 NTSC U/C.

So far, I have backed up:

(1) Tekken Tag, Ridge 5 and Freq PS2 CDs via Goldenhawk CDRWin
(2) Wipeout Fusion PAL DVD (and PS2Chimps NTSC patcher) via Prassi Primo 2.0

All have spun perfectly with no patches of any kind following both Lik-Sang's instructions for CD and NightStalker's excellent DVD info on GS 2.x (which is avail in another thread here).

Hope this helps.

Yeh, I too have read about large TOCs being an issue. I've been using both FFX and GT3 as DVD boot discs with no problems so far. I guess the real test would be DMC both as a backup and a boot disc since it's reported to be the largest TOC avail. I'll let you know as I plan on buying it during lunch today.

Which reminds me..

What's the story on EA games and 'No-Solder'? Still need a patch and screwball swap method? Since I currently don't own any EA games, I haven't tested.

NightStalker, EMPiRE or anybody else know?

Much thanks in advance.
Tril
