How do you copy WAD files to HD?

I am trying to backup games like max payne and wipeout fusion, but I cannot copy the main compressed file to my hard drive to uncompress. I get an error in windows Me saying "An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format" and it wont even let me do it in DOS. Is this a protection thing or a computer error?
Thanks

its probably some kind of disc protection
if it is a cd size game try to make an iso
instead of copying the entire content to HD
look for some tutoruils for othergames in h**p:\\www.ps2ownz.com
