how do you apply patches to psx games

i was wondering how do you apply patches to psx games i know how to copy them with nero but i know now you can apply these patches so you can play them without a modchip. please help me. what is the simplest way to do it?

use cdr-win and create an image file and add the patch into this image file. Then when it burns it will have the patch on the cd.

i dontt understand what patch does what there are trainers and nstc to pal. but i want to know which patches are the ones that the playstaion can read so that i dont need a modchip for a copied game? and whats the best website to find them? please help?
