Easiest fix in the world for AWS:
Start/Settings/Control Panel/Regional Settings---> now change your regional settings to Canada instead of the U.S., It will keep the same time zone and everything so you will never know anything changed. You will be prompted for a reboot, upon doing so AWS will be an option...not really a big deal but use it just incase...it is maily there for writers that do not work as well as others.

I noticed the same thing. I do live in the U.S. and want to know, how important is AWS and whats it do? Is "amplify weak sectors" something I dont want disabled? And how do you get it back? Do I have to uninstall clonecd, then change the regional settings to canada, and then re-install clonecd? Or can you get that feature back just by changing the regional settings? Or should I even worry about it? Thanks for the info guys.....

Quote:
It depends on what burner you have as to whether you need AWS of not. If your burner is capable of 'correcr EFM c####g' (can't copy Safedisk 2) then you should have this enabled when trying the copy SD2 games (not 100% successful with all writers) And no you don't have to reinstall Clone CD after changing your regional settings.

I am brand new to the board and new to copying. Right now I am trying out clone cd and cdmate. I live in the US and I was trying to get aws and hide media options on. I am running XP home and I removed clonecd, edited the registry and removed all clonecd settings. I changed the time zone to Canada and rebooted. I installed clonecd again. The aws and hide media box were not available. I changed the registry setting for aws from 0 to 1. The settings were not visible but greyed out. The second install of clonecd was a fresh download of the latest version. Does anyone know if it scans a system for country settings from another location or did I miss another setting somewhere. I just purchased a Yamaha 3200EZ recorder which is not doing well with the current version of Safedisk 2 on mohaa.
Jimk After searching around I realized what my mistake with this must be and I will try again when I get home. I was able to make a backup copy of mohaa, but it only works on the Yamaha and will not work on my son's computer which has a dvd player and a cdr. I wanted to make a copy with the aws setting to see if it makes a difference. I am starting to think that I should have bought the liteon 24x though. I do not think the Yamaha is EFM capable. |
