Another for Charlie...

Hey Charlie, you seem to be a secure source of information here, and I appreciate your input to my questions. I also noticed you have a Pioneer A03 DVD-R... I have one coming in the next day or so, and I just wanted to know how you like it, and how long does it usually take to burn a 4.7 DVD? (Roughly, of course... Say, anything above 4 gigs?)

It's great. Really great. Ensure you have 1.65 firmware from the Pioneer Support site. To tell what firmware you have, go to properties in Windows and it'll be in there. Also the burning software should also tell you. Firmware 1.55 burns unreliably on the cheaper media.

If you use Windows 98 or FAT32 disks, then you'll need to ensure that, if you are using PrimoDVD software, the 'px engine' is updated from the Prassi support site. Otherwise it'll stop at 4GB.

Takes about an hour 15 to burn 4+ GB.

I'm running Win2000 for my copying (NTFS, so the 4+ shouldn't matter), and WinME for crap that doesn't work with 2000. I also have Prassi and Nero (which just came out with 5.5.7.2). Is this drive supported by Nero? If not, is there a way of making an image using Prassi? (I haven't used Prassi yet, so it may be obvious, and I'll answer my own questions, but I may as well ask.) Thanks again!
