Hi there, I will be trying to copy HOt date today so I could use some pointers too. But I have been able to copy Sims House party and Harry Potter by using CloneCD and BetaBlocker and they worked with out a fixed exe. I don't have a fancy writer, and it does not read raw dao only raw sao, nor does it do the EMF stuff. But all the same it has copied a SD2 protected discs.
So those who have copied Hot date with out problems.......please share some tips, expecially those who don't have the burners that can do it all!!

take care,
sera from Iceland

As your burners aren't capable of correct EFM c####g, the onl chence of a perfect 1:1 copy is by using the Amplify Weak Sectors in Clone CD. (When reading to an image file select Fast Error Skip - and read the image file from the burner).
BTW - The Amplify Weak Sectors does the same thing as Betablocker.

If this doesn't work (it doesn't work all the time), then your only option would be to download a 'fixed exe' from GameCopyWorld or make it yourself with Unsafedisk.

Hi, and thanks for your answear. I tried to copy Hot date today did the Amplify weak sectors, fast error skip, read at 1x etc. all the tricks that I have read about but NO luck! The game installs OK, but when I try to play it, it does not even go further than the red hot date logo screen, when I change the exe file with a fixed one I downloaded it stops when it's loading with the blue screen and the text that rolls over the screen, and quits and goes back to the desktop. I tried to disable Norton antivirus and other programs running in the background, NO LUCK.......then I tried to play the game using the ORIGINAL hot date disc and it does not go further than the copied one......to the blue screen with the white text scrolling. I know this is a working copy of Hot date cause I borrowed it from a friend of mine and it works fine in his Pc. Can anyone tell me what the heck is going on here????? Can Hot date "see" that I have all kind of copying programs and utilities installed on my PC? I think I read that somewere, that games scanned for copying programs on the pc and if it finds one it wont start! is that true???

HELP!!!

If you are talking about the likes in PlayBackup, Insektors, and Daemon Tools (earlier versions), then yes.
The newer SD2 games will check ur system for these programs and bomb out if they are detected - EVEN IF U HAVE THE ORIGINAL CD!!!!!

If ur talkin bout Clone CD etc then no cos they are legit programs and if they blacklisted Clone CD I think Olli would be filing the lawsuit straight away.

Many people have found that with Macrovision pushing the limits of the standard (Orange book? too many colors) that they cannot run the original CD on their PC's. However, I will not help you, since you said

and that of course violates the license agreement and is exactly the kind of service that we do not condone. In fact, I frown upon you for ripping EA out of the 30 $ that they want for Hot Date. Of course, Its hard to say if anyone else cares.....

Thank you anyway podunkviller!!! LOL, What do you think most of the people here asking for help copying games are doing??? ripping their own games??? I am not doing this for my self, but for my son who's 9 years old. Also this is a challange for me, to be able to copy a high protected game and to learn! I am a computer nerd....so to speak, no teenager! What I am mostly doing is experiment and learn and challanging my self to figure out how to do things with the computer, how it works cause I want to know all I can about computers!
I hope I have not offended you podunkviller, by speaking frankly.
Take care,
Sera

Sera, not to be even more openly rude....

Most people here do not openly admit that they are copying borrowed games. That is because this is for copying and making backup's of games you do own. Several people borrow games and post questions here, but they are usually courteous enough to lie and say that they are only having trouble, not getting into the details of how they borrowed it and such.

Please 'challange' (your spelling yourself to pretend to follow the guidelines of the forum. If you truly want to experiment, you should not be asking how to copy, rather, you should be learning c####g and fixing exe's yourself.

My rant is done. Sorry for anything rude, being back at college makes me all tense.

Thanks for your reply podunkviller, I will try to behave and be more polite in the future and also to play by the rules You are right about challenging my self to figure this out on my own......and I would if only I had some time!! I work out part time and have 3 kids so time is something I don't have a lot of........but someday hopefully before i get too old I will be able to have all the time I need to experiment......but in the meantime it's great to get some tips from geniuses like your self and others here at Fileforums! I think that I can partly blame my frankness on the language barrier here since my native language is not english, I focuse too much on getting my questions out to think about how or what I am actually writing........so I hope I am forgiven! I promise to watch my tounge from now on.
Take care,
Sera
