Need help using No CD patch

I d/l the Executable Archive for Civilization III but can't get it to work. I didn't get a zip file but "civ3_116f_exe.ace. Then tried Fixed Exe #2 and got "Civ3_No CD.rar.
How do I get the execute file?? Appreciate any help.

I don't have the game, but they all work the same.

Download the file "Civilization 3 v1.07f [ENGLISH] No-CD/Fixed EXE" from gamecopyworld and extract it. You'll find the file "Civilization3.exe" in there. Replace the ORIGINAL "Civilization3.exe" file in your game folder with the one from the file you download...

Now you shouldn't need the CD to play it.. Good luck...

BOT is on a distinguished road
Try and stretch your imagination and either do a search on forum or some search engine.

BOT I'm sure you know what you mean but I have no idea. Not looking to stretch anything just use the No CD file.

Its Christmas, I'll be nice...

Ok, you'll need to EXTRACT the .ace file just like you would a .zip file.
To do that:
1) Download WinAce (www.winace.com) or WinRar (www.rarsoft.com), both offer fully functional free trials.
2) Install WinAce or WinRar
3) Now use WinAce or WinRar to EXTRACT the .ace file. A quick peruse thru the help files should tell you exactly how to do that if you don't know.
4) The extracted file will be the .exe file we've been talking about.
5) Now follow directions from my first post as to what to do with the .exe file.

Good luck & [4]Happy New Year![/4]

Thanks Jam
Got it now. I did not know that .ace and .rar were compressed files. Thank you for your patience and clear response.
