1. Copy all files from cd 2 a hd-dir.
2. Download the fixed-exe.
3. Replace the old exe with the cracked one.
4. Burn the stuff back on cd (nero > new session > iso) - drag&drop!
5. Don't forget the exact volume label. Need 2 be the same.
6. Play!

Very good MNX!
Especially the part where you say - 'Replace the old exe with the cracked one'
Don't you think you should explain how cafer goes about replacing that exe file when it is inside of the packed data1.cab that is 188 meg in size?

Uhhmm... ok, you r right! But why don't YOU explain it to him, he? So here it comes: Download i5comp.zip from www.cdmediaworld.com (under Files)! Extract (should i even explain how 2 extract files?) the files 2 a temp-hd-dir and copy the data1.cab into the same. Now type in a dos window: i5comp.exe r sims.exe data1.cab!
Now, burn all files back to cd with the modified data1.cab instead of the old one.
Done - are you happy now? @bot-ck

mickrick, just where does cafer state he has a CloneCD compatible burner and where is your warning about hardware requirements for CloneCD?
MNX, you were the one to reply - just make sure your replies are complete and factual.
You did that well the 2nd time.

And where does he/she say they're not backing it up on to floppy disc or DLT tape. Come off it, I asked a valid question. The guy (or girl) asked for step by step instructions on how to back up the Sims game with no other information regarding their hardware. And as for Clone settings, ##### the first 3 boxes, read and burn. That's all.

mickrick I repeat 'where is your warning about hardware requirements for CloneCD?'
We are taking a very dim view of people who offer CloneCD as the magic cure all WITHOUT warning about hardware requirements.
The only thing that saved you from being banned instantly was your 30+ posts, however do not take that for granted in future.
Plenty of people are banned for missleading, incomplete and blatantly inaccurate replies to questions.
If you want to reply make sure you are complete in that reply.

Oh, sorry. Here goes:

In order to use Clone CD you need a cd reader and writer capable of reading and writing CD Rom subdata. More information on compatible readers and writers can be found at the Clone CD website, ####://www.elby.de/ .

Hope this helps.

Send a message via ICQ to malicia
I apologise for jumping in here like this, but I followed all the instructions below and it tells me it can't find sims.exe
Anything else I can try?
TIA

Ok, lets start with the basics.
What make & model is your burner & what burning software r u using?
It helps us a great deal if u could include this in your original post.
Do u have any prior knowledge of copying/cracking cd games?
Is this the original cd or a copy?
Do u want it cracked, or straight working copy?
Now, CloneCD does copy most cd's, but is very hardware dependant & depends on the protection used on the cd.
As BOT-CK stated above, and now MNX, you need to check your hardware is compatible with it. By now, most burners are, but please check by going to address above stated by MNX.
If your burner IS compatible, download CloneCD & e-mail me. I will be glad to assist with the settings etc needed to make a straight 1:1 copy of the game.
Hope it helps.
