GTA3 Problems

Having probs with GTA3 making a DVD copy of it.
Boots fine but when on loading progress screen with blue bar at bottom only does about 10% then freezes.
Has anyone had success with this game?
I am just wondering if it was a one off bad copy before trashing another disc.

I've established on the Help-Forums that GTA3 original is a weakly pressed game (if that's a correct description), giving read problems all over the lace, particularly loss of synchronisation, mirroring, gliding etc. So that could be propagated to some extent to the DVD-R (although I would have expected ECC to pick this up ...).

Yesterday I managed to boot GTA3 DVD-R into a game (past the point you mentioned) but the FMV was staccato. I'll make another copy now that I've upgraded both the A03 firmware to 1.65 and the px Engine (PRimoDVD).
