Copy Red Alert 2

How do you copy this CD?
I have got hold of the unsafedisc files having copied all of the dll's into a temportary directory
and run them against the two executables, i.e. RA2.exe and setup.exe, i then replaced the exe's in the temporay copy on the Hard drive with the cracked Exe's and then copied the image back to a blank CD.
The CD started up and said warning militart software i clicked install the screen went black and then it just exited back to the operating system.

I am using nero burning Rom with an Acer R/W drive, I am fishing for what i am doing wrong?

Does the disc label have to be the same.
What options should be checked in nero burning Rom.

Is there an easier way, i have read a number of messages in the forum's refering to a crack which has now vanished.

Help, 4 CD's duffed and getting no-where.

Here's what I tell every1
------------------------------------------------

OK, first of all get a copy of UnSafeDisk 2 (it's free, jus have a look around GameCopyWorld for a link)

Copy the contents of the CD (by the way jus do exactly the same for both CD's) to a temp directory.
Now ya wanna use UnSafeDisk to unwrap the exe. Here's how:

Gather all the dll's you can find on the CD (easiest way is to use the Find facilty in Windows and type in *.dll to find all the dll's
Please note, I found some extra dll's in the folder I installed the game to which weren't on the CD, so jus gather all these up as well.

Put all the dll's in a folder and put the main exe into the same folder (also note, the setup file is also SafeDisk 2 protected and needs to be unwrapped too - it's hidden away in the setup folder of the CD)
Now use UnSafeDisk 2 to unwrap the two files.

Replace the original files in the temp dir, with the new "cracked" ones and burn the dir to a CD.

Slightly complicated, but works all the time.

------------------------------------------------

The disk label should be the same I would think, so try that. If that fails, try all the above again. Usually it wouldn't Crash to Desktop, just say incorrect CD etc.
Or maybe ur jus not unwrapping the files properly, if ur unsure e-mail me and i'll send them 2U.

Thanks for replying, I was following your recommendations, i have used the unsafedisc
v 2.05.030 It seems to work ok. creates the bin file, i then re-create the Exe from this and replace the 2 Exe's and create a CD.

Before i ruin another CD when you say all the dll's are you re-fering to the dll's on the CD plus the extra ones that get added when the installation takes place? If so this is what i have been doing.
I take it this means not every dll on the machine...

I only have the allied CD, can you give me some tips to follow on the nero burning stuff as i think this is probably where the problem lies, i.e copying the directory back onto the CD.

Sorry bout the confusion - not all the dll's on ur machine, just the ones that were added and the ones on the CD

It seems that you don't have NE problems unwrapping it so:

Copy/Paste everything from the CD into a temp directory;
Replace the two exe's (the setup and the main ones) with the fixed ones.
Use Nero to burn the temp directory to a CD (burn the contents of the folder as the index, don't just put the folder as the index of the CD)

Change the label of the CD to the same label of the original (I think it's "Ra2" but check it NE way in case i'm wrong)

As for settings, I don't use any special settings, 4X speed, (my maximum), I don't simulate, ISO level 1. Basically I don't change the settings in Nero to burn Ra2.

Er..???

You're burner is an ACER, capable of correctly writing Safedisc2.
So get yourself CloneCD (forget Nero for PC games....good for mp3 and audio) and you should have no problems at all.

Good point - this has an advantage because it is a total direct copy. Usually when you update the game, the update changes the exe, but this isn't a problem if you Clone it with CloneCd.

PS. download Oscar and it'll help u with registration (I'll say no more).

Hi Gh0sth@cker

Thanks for the advice. What do you do with the dlls? Do you get rid of them so the disc you burn has no dlls on it

May the Force be with you

I´m a first-time UnSafeDiscer ! Too make it short: I install the game from the Original-CD ! Then I use UnSafeDisc as mentioned above and burn the cracked CD ! Then everthing should work fine ! Now my question: What about the patch, can I install it after everything is done, or do I have to replace anything "before !!!" using UnSafeDisc ?
I´m afraid that the game won´t run after installing the 1.006 patch !!!

[quote]gh0sth@cker (22-09-2001 14:44):

The reason you have to COPY the dll's to the temp directory is because you need them to create the fixed exe. You don't delete them from the CD. You have to burn the dll's on the CD as normal.

All you have to do is to replace the setup.exe and the ra2.exe (or whatever it is) with the fixed ones, and burn to CD.
