Which Cd burner can burn protected CD's?
Read topic. Plz state as much information on the burner,(company, model, etc.), and where you can buy it, and about how much it costs.

Bit of a broad question as probably all burners will copy some protected CDs using one software or another.
In my experience I've no problem with my Sony CRX145e £130 from Dixons etc, EXCEPT it wont copy Safedisc 2 games straight, without patching etc. For that you need a burner based on phillips hardware - look on GCW for a list of them. Older plextor burners seem the fave amongst burners alike, using older firmware allows safedisc 2 copying. So its up to you.

Take a look at Teac 512 EB (avoid the E model, doesn't support Burnproof) 12x10x32 w/ 4meg buffer (tho with burnproof, you shouldn't need it)..Just as capable as the Plex drives (will do SD2 playable in the burner itself and a smattering of other drives...same as the Plex) It's usually about 50 bucks cheaper then the Plex...i paid $150 for the Kit (came with cable, 1 CD-R and 1 highspeed (10x) CD-RW disk) only real drawback (if you wanna call it that) is it has better error correction than the Plex, so it takes quite a bit longer to copy error based protections (SD1 & SD2) even with FES ticked on CloneCD...The only burners that can copy everything out right now are the old Plex 8x20 and 8x2x20 scsi burners (no longer made)..Don't pay much attention to firmware downgrades on new plex models...Some people report favorable results, most don't tho...
The most popular solution for copying everything is a good drive (Teac, Plex etc) for most everything, and a Philips based burner for SD2...(philips has problems with subchannel stuff...necessary for SecureRom backups)

hey luxor, suppose i could have said it the other way as well...
with a 4 meg buffer you shouldn't really need burnproof, with burnproof, you shouldn't really need a 4 meg buffer...both are nice to have tho...backup for the backup kinda thing.... We can't make the decision for you, but once again...take a look at the Teac 512 EB... if you want more testemonials, ##### out the CloneClinic...plenty of happy people over there

look for the 512 EB kit....as i said, with the 4 meg buffer you don't need burnproof (the B in EB) but it's a nice thing to have...i found mine at EMScomputing.com for 165.00 + 10 for shipping...
Product number 439567....if you buy this drive, you haveta update the firmware to 2.0D (mine came with 2.0a) in order for it to be fully CloneCD compatible...very easy to do...
