I'm having the same problem. But to avoid being a "me, too" post, I'll clarify the problem.

I'm running the English version of Red Alert 2. I've installed the game, added all the *.MIX files to the directory, ran the official 1.004 patch, and got everything working with the fixed ra2.exe and game.exe. The game runs fine as far as I can tell. But when I go to multiplayer and try to create an account, I get to the end of the registration and press ok to finish, and my whole computer resets completely. There's no error message. It's just as if I pressed the reset button on the computer case.

I thought maybe it had something to do with port forwarding with my NAT firewall through my router, so I put my computer in DMZ to get it outside of the firewall. But that's not the solution as I found out...

Anyone know what may be wrong?

i had same problem with ig2. what you have to do is use the patch from gcw and update it with their patch rather than the official one.

But I can't find GCW's version of the Official patch. The only thing I can find is the patch that keeps everything from blowing up when playing that you use AFTER you use the Official 1.004 patch. So where can I find it GCW's version?

Figured out my problem!

I've been trying to register through the game itself, and that wasn't working. Then I found out you could do it through Internet Explorer, and it worked fine. Now I can join games and whatnot and everything seems okay so far. I haven't actually tried playing a game yet, but I'm hoping it will work fine. Joining a game worked, so it should hopefully be okay.
