download clone cd and clone cd game database. Install both and start up the clone cd database. Then have your red alert 2 cd in your cd-rom drive and click on "detect" and then click "cd scan" at the bottom. After a few seconds it will say that the cd has a safe disc version 2 protect on it. Now click on the "Clone CD" button just to the right of the "cd scan" and "win scan" buttons. this will automatically start the Clone CD program and then you click "Copy CD". DO NOT CHANGE ANY OF THE SETTINGS EXCEPT MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE CHOSEN THE RIGHT CD-ROM DRIVE FOR THE READER AND THE RIGHT CD-ROM DRIVE FOR THE WRITER. Then click "start disc copy" at the bottom. From there the program will read the cd and make a temporary cd image on your hard drive. Once its done the original Red Alert 2 cd will eject itself and the backup will start burning. Once its done burning you have your backup of Red Alert 2 that works perfectly and will install on all cd-rom drives!

Don't expect a 100% working copy of RA2 unless you have a Philips drive or a rebadged Philips drive like the Plextor. If you have a Sony don't bother or use a re-writable cd because i have a sony 140e and i have made tons of coasters. you can get clone cd database and cd media world.

Just a bit of a update. The reason the Philips can burn SD2 that work on cd and dvd rom drive is because some how SD2 overloads the buffer on the writer. Because of this the writer they f**ks up the copy. For some reason the Philips writers are not affected by this overload so they can make perfect copies. I don't really understand exaclty how it manages to do this. Also there something do with laser power. Again i don't really understand how this works. If you won't to read more about it go to cloneclinic and seach for a post by a guy called LocutusofBorg2k called 'the mechanism of safedisk 2' also search for a post by Olli 'the new protection'. They both talk about how it work. The LocutusofBorg2k guy is developing something for plextor and sony drives which should make them copy SD2 but he not saying much because he doesn't know if it's going to work.
