Winning Eleven 5 Final Evolution *NTSC* version..HELP CHARLIE.

I downloaded this game from an FTP site and It works perfectly, the only problem its in Japanese and I dont understand it at all....Well heres the problem, the good folks at Rha###dy made a patch for this game that translates Jap. to English and When I patch the game using PPF-O-MATIC it tells me that the patch was applied succesfully. When I burn the image with CDR-win and I put in my PS2 i get nothing but a black screen.
Heres what im doing:
and by the way ive patched a few games before with no problem,so I kinda know what im doing...
Heres what im doing...
Using CD-R WIN newer version
burning at 1x
using ppf-omatic to apply patch
Ive used 3 diffrent cd-r brands Memorex,TDK,Imation
The funny thing is that the game when i burned it without patching worked perfectly in Japanese..

Can you tell me what im doing wrong ???
anybody have this problem at all?
ive heard that the patch is fine?
so let me know...

thanks in adavance...

Well, your info wasn't complete so I'm guessing here.

I don't know your CDRWin settings, but we'll take this for granted at this time.

If it's CDRWin 4 you are using, try 3.8G. $ is buggy and many people have gone back to 3.8x because of this.

Let me know. I won't be on again for another 9 hours or so.

My guess would be that the patch is bad. Perhaps you gotta download it again or download it from another source which would be the best way to go. Just my 2cents.

I tend to agree with Civic2000. That's 4 cents' worth.

Thanks for your info guy's....

isnt it kinda weird that the game works fine in japanese?
anyhow I went ahead and downloaded the italian patch to see if it was a bug with the english patch and same thing happened.

Oh and I wanted to know since ive been wasting so much time on this game fo you think this game could be copy-protected or anything of that kind???

maybe you guys can give me some info as to what happens when it has this..anyway I can tell if this is the problem? is it possible?

thanks in adavance..

The fact that you can burn the JAP download and play it means that there is no copy protection to worry about; any fixes (if any) were in the download.

There are logically only two explanations:

1 The patch is bad
2 Different CDRWin paramaters were used for burning the patched gam

Which patcher did you use? PPF-O-MATIC is the one I'd trust.

Could be that your burner doesn't recalculate the ECC value when you've altered it because of a patch. Read all about it here and download/run.

Charlie I finally got ot to work $hit it only took me 12 cd'd lol....Anyhow it was that I needed to use the Ecc Regen program and change all the bad paramters. After that it worked perfectly, anyhow thanks for your help..I just wish the people where I got the patch from would have given a little more info on how to patch all the steps ,because ive patched games before and I have never have gone through so many steps to patch a game...

One last thing, King, what was your burner?

That's important for others to know (and avoid!)
