Hi what do these .addon files do and are they related to components ?

they're just MD5 files.

eng.addon - the MD5 file for English language game files.
rus.addon - the MD5 file for Russian language game files.
...

fitgirl-0.md5 - the MD5 file for rest of the other common game files.
