new ps2 v5 (noisey???)

i got v4 with messiah(lucky me)
just bought new v5 no chip yet
v5 sounds like a lion loading in games (new no chip)
v4 with messiah loads backups origanals like a mouse
is it natural for v5 make hideous noises or have i got a dodgey 1
it works fine but sounds like shit

I bought a v5 & had it chipped (neo 2.2) straight away, & with CDR the noise was atrocious. I thought it was the chip but a couple of mates had PS2 for christmas(unchipped) & they sound exactly the same but only with CD based games, DVD games are near enough silent.
