I need a patch!

I have borrowed a copied version of Sim City 3000 off my friend. It installed fine and started up. I played on it for a while and shut it down. Then i came back to play on it later but it would not start up again. My friend says he got a patch for it but he doesn't know where he got it from. Can someone please help me?
