DVDR GAMES DON'T WORK!!!!!!!!

Forgive me if I'm a bit pissed off but i've followed everyones tips in copying games and boot methods going and while cdr discs work fine dvdr don't load what so ever. I've even adj the laser to 600 ohms and i know the media i us is fine as i have made a dvd movie and that played fine. I've bought the AR2 v2 and now the Region X, they both boot cdr's but not dvds. I've even downloaded the AR2 v1.7 but that locks out with the AR2v2 dongle. So unless someone has any other ideas i'm stuck. Mery Xmas to you all!

PS2 30003 V4
Neo 2.5 dvd mod chip
pioneer dvd writer
primo dvd
Ar2 v2
DVD R X

I'd say we have narrowed this down to AR2/1.7 needing to work. I assume the NEO2.5 fulliy wired works with VDRs - I think that's been confirmed on the Forum.

I feel really sorry for you. You've got all the expensive gear then Sony crapped on Messiah. For what my view is worth, if you've gone the whole 9 yards, try the next 9 and if you can get hold of the BootMaster MESSIAH Clone, and if it works, you won't need to use AR2. All this at your own risk, of course!

Take up Wildthing's offer. It should work but my advice is taken at your risk. 1.9 is a scarcity now.

see if it can read DVDs at all. the neo 2.2 is known to damage the laser if no capacitor is installed on pin 2 of the chip, and will destroy the DVD laser sooner or later.

It has been emerging that the Ao3 produces poor results with firmware 1.55 and better results with firmware 1.65. Also the PrimoDVD engine has an upgrade available too.

Other forums report much higher success with this combination.

As to DVD-Rs that no longer read, that's a PS2 laser matter.

Good luck.

I managed to get all backups, dvd's and dvd'rs to load by moving the two pots to 600 ohms. My chip has a cap fitted, but moving these done the trick and straight in first time. Use a multimeter and record what the pots are currently set at incase it ****s up then adjust both to around 600 ohms. This website explains better with diagrams.www.modchips-uk.pwpblueyonder.co.uk look under faq's. Good luck and dont attempt this if you've been out on the piss the night before

before you go to 600, I recommend trying values of 900, 800 and 700 first.. the lower it is, the higher the laser power.. the more likely it is to die sooner than an untouched laser unit.

This is a bit worrying.

Is there any truth in this. i've just put a neo 2.2 in a 3003 v4 without a capacitor. The site where I got the chip said that the hx had been improved, 'timing issues had been resolved and a capacitor was no longer needed '. can anyone comment on this
