Q1. do i still have to patch a ntsc game, even when i use the dvd region x and a rgb-cable?
Answer Using clonecd no patch is needed (use this for CD games). You will need either an action replay 2 card or gameshark card to be able to boot the games. The region X just allows you to play any region dvd on your PS2. To boot the game put Ar2/GS in cd drive and hold the reset button. When main menu comes up let go and drive opens. You have 4 seconds to swap the AR2/GS cd with your backup. Then select start game without codes and press X your game should then boot. Q2. what`s the ea-swap or something else ?? Answer EA Swap is the patch applied for booting PS2 backups using the swap trick method of booting PS2 backups. Q3. what`s about the thing called dvd-rip??? do i need it to backup a game which comes along on a dvd? i thought it isn`t possible to burn a dvd..... DVD and how do i use it ????? Answer A DVD-Rip is where you remove things from the DVD so that the game will fit on one or more CD's. Read the guides in PS2 Guides sections for help with this. i have got the clonecd and cdrwin, which programm is the best for backups????? Answer Clonecd for direct copies if the game is on cdrom CDRWIN for DVD-Roms. Hope this helps Sim |

Simon,
Your advice above is almost correct. You can boot PS2 backups using the REGION X boot cd. The REGION X is also the quickest on the market to boot backups and priced at 20 quid you cant go wrong. (please note you still need a modchip!!!!) Here are the REGION X booting methods - Non EA games Start up PS2 with boot disc as usual. The 'not endorsed by SCEE' screen comes up and you hear the disc stop. Press eject when you hear disc stop and replace boot disc with backup disc. Press START button on controller. Press eject for tray to close and disc will now load. All EA Games use this - Start up PS2 with boot disc in as usual while holding the reset button in. The 'not endorsed by SCEE' screen comes up and you hear the disc stop. When you hear the disc stop, let go of the Reset button and the tray will come out. Replace Region X boot disc with backup disc. The tray will go back in its self, then press START button on controller. Disc will now load. I have a NEO 2.2 modchip installed and use the REGION X to boot backups and i have had 100% success. I also use CLONE CD to make backups and dont patch any of the games just use the booting methods above to play. For tutorials on how to use CLONE or CDR-Win check out DEANOS site www.psxcopyworld.co.uk Any questions just ask. Cheers Dal |
