!!!Dance Dance Disaster!!! - Can you help?

I have a ###ne stealth chipped which works fine. I have backed up a jap version of “Dance Dance Rev 3rd MIX” which is a dancing game involving good timing skills. My friend has this on a non-chipped jap PSX and the game works fine, but on my version as you play there is a delay between music and picture which gradualy increases the more you play which is very annoying. I have ruled out the possibility of a boot disc fault as I have the same problem using the disc swap method. Is it the chip, and if so, would putting a switch on every wire help?

PS1 isn't my bag so I'm not on solid ground here. But as nobody else has replied, perhaps this might make sense based on my PS2 knowledge. By the time you are into playing the backup game, the modchip should have done its job and shouldn't be involved in any aspect of your problem. I can't shed any light on the true causes I'm afraid. Maybe a copying expert from the forum would know.

Sorry mate but there is no way around this problem!

Its due to the way in which the original hase been writen, with a game that CDRWin see's as being only mode 2 then this would not be an issue, but i believe that in this case as with many other games that CDRWin is seeing one Mode 2 track and one or more Audio tracks, and unfortunately the timing for the Audio is always going to out by some degree on the backup.

I have a backup/copy of Dance Dance Revolution 3rd mix and have a non-stealth mod in my Playstation (not the ###ne model, the old model), and i have NO problems with it at all. I think you may have a bad copy of the game. If you downloaded it off of the internet, you should try to find the original and copy that.

i coppied it straight from the real disk. would the program i use make a difference, eg nero, Clone cd etc or will a patch work, like a ntsc to pal.
What seems strange to me is that it is not a continuos gap between sound and picture, but it gats larger the longer you play. Is it processing the sound faster than the picture as the picture dose relate to what it is reading from the controller (when i press a button it registers it on the screen like normal)

thanx for the help so far, are you sure there is no solution???

As I said before, I'm not the expert on PS1 but it strikes me that CLONECD won't have the mode problem described for CDR-WIN. If your writer is compatible with CLONECD, try that.

It may be a bit late although maybe this helps someone browsing through the old threads in hope to find a solution.

I assume you are using a PAL machine....and you are playing a NTSC game...
The problem here is indeed that the sound and the game are not exactly in sync. For any other game it is meaningless BUT Dance Dance Revolution (the mother of all games by the way *g*) MUST be played in sync. there is a workaround for that to speed up the game. You have to use Gameshark codes. The Gameshark is a Bootdisk you can download. I think it works with something like "X-Ploder" too... even the PS-Xchance. At first you have to look for the codes (best is to use www.google.com) They are called "Speed Fix Gameshark codes" or similar. they look something like this "8004F3F9 0012". Burn the Boot disk and start with it (Mod chip is needed unless you have a PS-Xchange) and enter the codes...pop in the game CD if asked and have fun!!!

To answer the origional poster

DDR 3rd mix (and later) don't run correctly on a PAL playstation.
There are gameshark codes/patches to fix the timing, but they don't always work correctly (see my other post)

a SERIOUS ddr player will have to invest in an NTSC console

Hi fellows!

So if i understand correctly the "codes" will speed up the game but not the music so that the arrows will fall with the correct beat?? I heard that that there are some DDR copies that have been patched so that you don't need to put in those "codes' still you have to need a mod-chip, is that correct?? Also if you want to play such "patched" DDR copy on your PC with an emulator, does this means that the game will be not in sync on the PC but will be in sync when played on a playstation???

Thanks!

Alex

my wife has all the ddr games in ntsc format and she has a pal playstation and they all play perfect but we use a rgb scart lead so that is probably why!
