clone cd + ###ne + modchip
I live in Australia. I have a modded psx 900x (pal) and all the games I've backed up (100%) using ccd are pal also.
I tried to play a fully working pal backup game written at 8x in a unmodded ###ne (pal) and was asked to insert a format disk. YEAH I know, need a modchip to play backups. Researching thro' various forums I learnt that the psx has a multi-region bios where as the ###ne has a single and will only boot disks from the country of origin (###ne pal will only boot pal disks).Should my disk have booted then? or is the case that ccd does not copy the booting process and the chip is needed for this? If so, would it be fair to say that ccd does not deliver a true 1:1 copy then? So if someone would be kind and willing enough to shed some light on my curiosity in some detail rather than the usual short reply (You need a modchip to play backups) that I usually see in past posts, I would greatly appreciate it. - THANKS IN ADVANCE - P.S Is there another way to play backups in the ###ne besides a modchip, like a bootdisk or something? |

i believe there is a game enhancer that can play backups, but you have to use the swap method,##### out modchips-usa.com or modchip.com, or consolechips.com.
i think we used to just play with the game enhancer that plugs into the back, but we had to swap them. see if that info helps |

all Playstation games have and uncopiable track, there's a copyright issue that makes it so no burning software out there can make a perfect 1.1 copy of any Playstation software, that's where the mod-chip comes in to skip this un-copiable track. Gameshark CD's and even the PS-X-Change has this track on them, if you make copies of your Shark CD's or PS-X-Changes you'll notice that they are working copies but now need a mod-chip to boot up!!

hi,
my mate asked me if i could chip his PS-one so i agreed. I already had a spare chip from previous purchase's but these where brought for the purpose of chipping older psx consoles. So i contacted the supplier and they said that the chip would work but the PS-one wouldn't play import discs only PAL, if i wanted it to play copies and imports theni would have to purchase the chip for the PS-one. hope this helped a little bit |
