New comers & troubleshooters READ THIS

After reading this forum for sometime i've finally thought i'll offer my advice.
Theres been so many conflicting advice posted on these pages i decided to give out the correct information. If anyone has problems backing up PSX games using clone cd, cdrwin or nero or just using patches, just post a message & i will help u out.
If any one requires FULL working versions for either clone cd or cdrwin i can provide this (however i perfer to mail just unlocking cracks as this saves time).
For those who also give out help on this forum - keep it up guys (& girls). Your help is always invaluable

Since you're so willing to help, maybe you can help me out.
This is my first time on here and basically it's because I've been trying to figure out how to play MLB 2K2 on my modified PS.
In the last 2 days I've read all about patchers, and patches and this and that.
But basically, it comes down to the fact that I need a patch for this game and psxcopyworld doesn't seem to have one.
So, my long winded question is: Am I correct that until there's a patch for this game, I cannot play it?
I guess I can always buy a modchip 2 cd, but I want to play it now!!
:0)
Thanks

What coping software are u using? clone cd should work, however your cd writer must be fully compatable with it. If the is a problem with your mod chip u should be able to tell with other copied games- the simptoms usually are booting into the cd player or stoping on the black playstation screen. If there is no patch available it usually means that there isnt one needed!

I'm trying to play the original game but it is blocked b/c my system is modified.
Are you saying that if I make a copy ( I use cdrwin by the way) it will bypass the blocks of tne new games?

now i'm a little puzzled by the sentence "but it is blocked b/c my system is modified" I cant make heads or tails on what u mean. also the last bit "it will bypass the blocks of tne new games?" I think u should make it a little clearer. Are u telling me that u cant play normal (original) games on your playstation because it is modified (chipped)?

Bingo!!
I cannot play original (mainly new releases)on my modified PS.
I say mainly new b/c I was always able to play both originals AND copies once I modified. But lately, it seems that the new realease are being 'blocked' which is why I ask if I need a patch for this.
I recently rented MLB 2002 and when I ####t it, I get a "your system has been modified" big / banner across my screen.
I'm assuming that the new releases are now including new software that does not allow my modified system to read it.
If I remove the mod-chip, my copies will be useless.

Thanks,

DaRazor.... From your posts i have managed to deduce two things,

1, the chip you have installed contains a basic or early version of hex (not Stealth or MultiMode), or maybe installed incorrectly.

2, Some of the newer originals contain Anti Mod Chip Protection, the game detects the presence of a mod and then displays the banner you mentioned.

Dont bother trying to use CloneCD in this case even if your burner is 100% compatable because your backup will do the same.

So to play your original either remove the mod chip, or install a manual switch so you can dissable it, or best get a stealth of multimode mod chip installed. (I'd choose option 3).

You'll have to wait for a working protection patch to appear before making a sucessfull backup!

FYI, I have copied MLB 2002 for my PSX and got the same message. I had to use a patch with CDRWIN to get it to work. Someone gave me a link in this forum for the patch. I think it might have been from megagames.com. Just trying to return the favor as was done for me. Good luck.

Help! I make the cue/bin files.... Im trying to backup ps2 games. What do I do now? I dl'd this ppf o matic 2.0 and ran that along with the patch for madden 2k1. At that pt it said to burn the cd. I did and when I load it in my ps2 it says to put a ps or ps2 disk in....

Any reason why?
If some really helpful person wants to tell me, either leave a post here or icq me which would be much better. 1401272

Thx, Mar [email protected]

Hi.

Can you tell me how I best get mistake-free copies of games where the ORIGINALS already have mistakes (e.g. when certain levels are being loaded the game crushes)?
When I copy them with CloneCD, several read-error-messages are being shown, and afterwards the copy has the same mistakes as the original.

Spooky.................thanks for the tips.
Question...do you know if an Exchange CD will work for this. (or even with mod. chip already installed?)

Ramsguy...any clue where to find that patch?
I've tried megagames and they have nothing listed for MLB?

Thanks all!
