Cog method

I'm trying to open the cd tray of the ps2 with a screwdriver, and the tray only pops out about 1/4 of the way and then gets stuck. I'm using the white gear in the lower left hand corner of the PS2. Why is this happening? My friend seems to have no prob with his. Is it some new thing by Sony to stop the cog method, or am I doing something wrong?
thx

So you've lobbed out the best part of £300 (or more) for the PS2 (unless you've nicked the staff PS2 from our office as someone has done); you've lobbed out £40 for your first game (or benefitted from the game that was with the nicked PS2).

And now - rather than spending just a few bob more on a mod-chip (more difficult to nick), you are ready to take a knife/screwdriver to this apparatus and risk sending it to oblivion?

Where did you get the screwdriver from?

Use a Modchip!!
