PS2 back-ups freezing during gameplay. HELP please!

Hey all...hELP!
I have a modded ver. 4 ps2, and use cloneCD to make my backups. I have backed up about 4 games successfully so far, they boot up and everything and I can play.

But, on every one the games keep locking up/freezing during game play. The freezing is pretty random, sometimes I can play like 20mins, or sometimes it locks up like right away.

Could it have something to do with the types of CD'rs I am using? I use Verbatim Datalife blues...is there a suggested CDR brand for ps2 backups?

I'm having the same problem, is this a common problem ? Please advise!! Plus having trouble booting the games up, only get about 1 in 4/5 attempts to actually boot-mega annoying......
