New to ps2 backup need help!!

I haven't been able to make successful copies of either SSX or Starwars:Starfighter. I have followed the instructions perfectly, but my only concern is that I am not sure if I need the (raw) button #####ed or not in cdrwin. Is there a problem or a patch for these games or something with copying in raw mode?

One last thing do you need a mod chip to do the EA swap?

use the default settings for cdrwin and yes,you need a mod-chip to play all backups.
