Exclamation Conversion: OK, custom installer: missing

I believe that Rudi wants the custom installer as well, senseman:

While I don't have any of the custom installers from CD-2-DVD (Including one for NFS Underground 1 + 2 + Most Wanted in a DVD5), I did one by my own in Autoplay MediaStudio 7.5 for such conversion. I believe I still have the conversion steps with me, just hang on.

...But senseman's reply is enough for now.

EDIT1: After search a lot in my backups, I haven't found neither the conversion nor the custom installer.

I remember some steps of the conversion, but I still need to "polish" them.
About the custom installer... maybe later, when I got more free time. When? When it's done. :P

Need For Speed Underground 1& 2

NFSU1

1) Create a Temp Directory on your hardrive.
Name this folder: NFSU_DVD. This will be the name (Label) of our DVD.

2) Download the Custom Installer (created by JediAlien) from here and extract the files from the rar file to the NFSU_DVD folder.
You can view the Custom Installer here.

NOTE: Extracted from the rar file are 2 folders named NFSU1 and NFSU2

3) Copy all the contents of the NFSU CD 1 to the NFSU1 folder.

4) Copy all the contents of the NFSU CD 2 to the same NFSU1 folder. (Do NOT overwrite any files when prompted!)

5) Inside the NFSU1 folder there are now two files called: ‘common_filelist.txt’ and ‘en-us_filelist.txt’
Open these 2 files with Notepad and change all the first number 2’s in each line to a 1.
(IMPORTANT: Be sure to ONLY CHANGE the first number 2 in each line and remember to ‘Save’ the changes before closing!)

6) Inside the NFSU1 folder is a folder named Update. Copy the Patch 4 update to the Patch folder. Rename the patch to nfsu_patch_4.exe. (Note: There is not a button on the Custom Installer for installing updates.)

7) Also inside the NFSU1 folder is a folder named Crack. Copy the ‘Patch 4’ NoCD into the Crack folder.
(Note: There is not a button on the Custom Installer for the Crack)

8) Again using the Notepad, open the ‘autorun.cfg’ file (it’s in the AutoRun folder), and scroll to the bottom and change StartupCD=02 to StartupCD=01. Save the changes before closing the autorun.cfg window.

8a) Whilst you have the autorun.cfg open you can also look for the entry ‘EReg=1’ and change it to EReg=0.
This will stop the annoying ‘Register Now or Register Later’ window from appearing!
Again save the changes before closing the autorum.cfg window.

9) Once again using the Notepad, open the autorun.inf file and paste the following 2 lines at the bottom:

[Special]
Disk=1

So the autorun.inf file will now look like the following 6 lines:

[autorun]
open=setup.exe
Icon=NFSU_icon.ico
Name=Need For Speed Underground

[Special]
Disk=1

IMPORTANT: Make sure there is only ‘one’ line space between the ‘Name=….’ and the ‘[Special]…….’ or you will be prompted to insert CD 1 at the start of the install!! And don’t forget to Save the changes!

10) NOTE: The Game will start after the installation, so you need to rename the original SPEED.EXE to SPEED.EXE.ORG and then put the ‘Cracked’ SPEED.EXE in the exact same place where the original exe is. So then the ‘Cracked.exe’will be installed instead and stop any error messages from appearing.
(Note: I used the Cracked v1.1 (1.1001.0) exe instead of the v1.0)
Do this only if you want to play the game right after installing it. Otherwise you can skip this step. Instead of the game starting you will see an error message which you will be able to escape out of.

NFSU2

1) Copy all the contents from the NFSU2 CD1 to the NFSU2 folder.

2) One of the files just copied was named ‘compressed.zip’. Rename the file to ‘compressed_cd1.zip’

3) Copy all the contents from the NFSU2 CD2 to the same Temp folder. Do NOT overwrite any files if prompted!

4) Again one of the files just copied was named ‘compressed.zip’. Rename the file (from CD2) to ‘compressed _cd2.zip’.

4) Both the renamed ‘compressed.zip’ files (now should be named ‘compressed_cd1.zip’ and ‘compressed_cd2.zip’) must be converted to the one zip file! Creating a new zip file called ‘compressed.zip’

There a several ways to do this. This is the easiest way to explain!
NOTE: As most people use Winrar as their compression utility, these instructions explain how to create a ‘zip’ archive using Winrar.
Firstly create a folder named ‘compressed.zip’.
Then using Winrar extract both zip files to the newly created ‘compressed.zip’ folder. (Choose yes or no to overwrite files, it won’t make any difference).
To re-zip these files, highlight all the files in the folder, then right click the highlighted files and from the Right Click menu choose ‘Add to archive…..’.
The Winrar window will now open with the ‘General’ tab opened.
The ‘Archive name’ will already be there and will be the same name as the folder the files are in, in this case it will be ‘compressed.rar’. BUT we want to change it to ZIP!!
To change it to zip just choose ‘Zip’ as the ‘Archive format’. (This option is just below the ‘Archive name’ on the same General tab window!
Leave the ‘Compression method’ as Normal and click OK. This will create the ‘compressed.zip’ file.

Copy the newly created zip file back to the NFSU2 folder.
Now you can delete the compressed.zip folder and the 2 compressed_cd1.zip and the compressed_cd2.zip files which still sit in the NFSU2 folder.
You should now only have the one compressed.zip file left in the NFSU2 folder!

5) Using the Notepad, open the file ‘common_filelist.txt’. Change any lines which start with a ‘2’ to a ‘1’.
(Example: Change the ‘2,1,pathfile’ to ‘1,1,pathfile’). Do these all the way down the list! Make sure all the first numbers have been changed to a 1), Then Save the changes!
NOTE: The first number indicates what CD the file is located on. Since we are now using just one DVD for all the files they can all be changed to a 1.

6) Again using the Notepad, open the ‘autorun.cfg’ file (it’s in the AutoRun folder), and scroll to the bottom and change StartupCD=02 to StartupCD=01.

6a) Whilst you have the autorun.cfg open you can also look for the entry ‘EReg=1’ and change it to EReg=0.
This will stop the annoying ‘Register Now or Register Later’ window from appearing!
Again save the changes before closing the autorum.cfg window.

7) Once again using the Notepad, open the autorun.inf file and paste the following 2 lines at the bottom:

[Special]
Disk=1

So the autorun.inf file will now look like the following 6 lines:

[autorun]
open=setup.exe
Icon=NFSU_icon.ico
Name=Need for Speed Underground 2

[Special]
Disk=1

IMPORTANT: Make sure there is only ‘one’ line space between the ‘Name=….’ and the ‘[Special]…….’ or you will be prompted to insert CD 1 at the start of the install!! And don’t forget to Save the changes!

8) Inside the NFSU2 folder is an Update folder. Copy the v1.2 update patch to the Update folder.
Note: There is not a button on the Custom Installer for Updates.

9) Inside the NFSU2 folder is a Crack folder. Copy the v1.2 NoCD crack into the Crack folder.
Note: There is not a button on the Custom Installer for NoCD cracks.

10) And finally, also extracted from the Custom Installer rar file is a text file for your serial. Copy both the games serials to this Serials.txt file. (The text file is in the NFSU_DVD folder.)
Note: There is not a button on the Custom Installer for the serial.

11) Burn the contents of the Temp folder to a DVD with the Label: NFSU_DVD.

NOTE: Remember to always choose ‘Advance’ install and do a full install. When both installs finish you will be able to use the ‘Browse DVD’ button, on the Custom Installer, to browse to the Updates and NoCD Cracks.
