Modchips, Emulators and Controllers
Hey guys/girls
I was wondering if there was a simple FAQ floating around on how to copy PSX games reliably, what you need to pull it off and more general info too. I have never copied a PSX game before...could someone give me the lowdown on what I need to do. Also, are there emulators out there that allow you to play PSX/PS2 games on the PC. Could you buy similar controllers for your pc, maybe usb connected? Is it possible to copy PS2 games 'cos as far as I know, those are DVD? Lastly, what is the hype with modchips and where is the best place to purchase one from? Do you need different modchips for PS2 and PS1? Sorry for the newbie questions, very irritating I know. hey dude,
if you have a spare psx controller, and wouldn't mind chopping it up, go to www.ziplabel.com for all the diagrams on how to hook your psx controller up to your pc via your printer port. There are other controllers you can hook up as well, eg N64, Saturn, Snes.....and others.

VERY briefly--
1- you can copy PSX games with any of the CD copy utilities out there--CDRWIN, CloneCD and Nero come to mind. However, 2- you CANNOT play those backups on a PSX unless it has a mod chip. No way around it. 3- you CAN play those backups with some PC emulators out there. Bleem! and Virtual Game Station come to mind. 4- Get a PC gamepad if you intend to play on a PC emulator--they tend to have better functionality, but they don't have a vibration function (which I find cheesy anyway) |
