i cant seem to get pal4u to work, either with games that have been tested ok by others or with patches supplied at gamecopyworld.when i use the program/patcher or just the patcher i get the message "patch applied sucessfully enjoy" but once the games are burnt they are still in b&w.
i have no problem with the ppf patcher and releases they work every time.am i thick or have i missed something.any help would be really appreciated

Sounds to me that your CDR Drive does not support
on the fly EEC record regeneration. This affects some
Phillips/Freecom drives ie: CDD3610.
What happens is this.....

You patch the image with a couple of bytes changed.
You burn the image to your blank CD.
Your CD writer detects the changed bytes and "Corrects" them using the ECC record stored in the image file.
Result: Your burned CD is IDENTICAL to the unpatched image!

You can solve this by using a little program on the BIN
file after patching called ECCRegen. This will recalculate the ECC record in the Binary file so that your CDR drive doesnt correct it.

You can download it from eccregen.cjb.net

Hope that helps!

Well the mitsumi drive DOESNT do on the fly ECC regen
so it looks like this could be your problem! Dont know about the Plextor though.

Let me know how you get on!

thanx again for your input
anyway it seems that the 2 games that i've been tinkering with(bedrock bowling, smackdown 2) are problematic anyway so even afteryour advice i'm having no luck

thanx again for your time
next time that i get a game that i know can be successfully patched i will try again
one day i hope that i can try to help you out
cheers
