Battlefield 2142 error?

I'm one of those who purchased the downloaded version of 2142. Instead of the DVD, it runs from the EA's download manager ... I will not do this again, but to the problem

Running BF2142 on the pc, all was good, then I downloaded and applied patch 1.5 to the main install ... all though the user interface, but do not have any luck getting bf2142 to start.

Literally, I click the icon, it loads then IMMEDIATELY gives the VISTA "BF2142.exe has stopped working, please wait while windows searches for a problem - within 8-10 seconds, BF 2142 stopped functioning altogether and the window displays a CLOSE button.

I have attempted to reapply the patch (even re-downloaded it) without success.

Help, attention, suggestions are greatly welcomed!

hello , im having the same problem well actually the game was running fine before i patch it to 1.5 and after i installed the patch and i tried to run the game but it gives me an error to insert a CD so i downloaded several NoCD cracks and now it crashes and give me this error report "BF2142.EXE has encountered a problem and needs to close.We are sorry for the inconvenience".
I tried to reinstall directX and also tried few cracks but still same problem. how can i fix it?
