Heroes 3 Complete - No CD not working

howdy all,

Firstly, my apologies if this is in the wrong area.

I've followed the instructions detaied in a no-cd patch outlined at
--> http://gcw.ucyber.net/games/pc_homm3...CD/Fixed%20EXE

but am still getting the game play blocked saying i need the cd. I've got the original cds for install/play but want to play the game on a machine which doesn't have a cd drive installed.

any help? let me know if anyone wants any extra info.

thanx

Interesting to find out how you installed it in the first place on the machine with no cd/dvd drive.

Yeah less of the lip lad, I know about 5 ways of transferring files, was wondering which one you used. You understand that? I mean it aint brain surgery.

There could be one reason, and thats when you copied the files over, im guessing you didnt install on the machine just a straight copy over. Which would mean no registry settings and no other files that could be installed in other folders.

Also.

You are only allowed to have 1 copy of the game on one machine at a time.

And it is against rule no 1 of the forum rules to ask for help if you do not have a compatible drive that can install from the media.

it's called a witty remark not an insult. I couldve taken your initail comment as snideness too if I had wanted.

I copied the install files from the original cd as an image and then mounted it so it was treated as a virtual cd which installed as if of the cd. Thath makes it a valid installation and as such generates registry keys & relevant system folders. I also only have it one 1 machine (the one I'm trying to get it on) so your point there is invalid.

Seeing as you seem so willing to point out that you know so many ways to tranfers the data you would have to agree that the method I used is a valid way to install the prgram. That would make your 2nd point also invalid.

Moot point now as a much more helpful member of this community helped me without the smarminess and even laughed at my 'rocket surgery' jest.

Try to help and not be a tool. People like you are reasons I don't join communities very often. Very troll-ey comment indeed!

Ok lets start from the beginning since most Ozzies have a rage problem when they dont get their own ways.

1. Reading the rules you will see in rule #1 that if you dont have a drive to install from then no help. That includes mounting images which is not a physical drive.

2. I was asking as most people try to figure a way of getting games to work that they stole. i.e. warez. Your initial post was a bit suspicious. And it was a query and not a flame or incite. But being an Ozzy as said above most of you have issues with temper.

3. You attacked me, even though rocket surgery makes no sense, what you wanted to say was rocket science.

4. Only on that machine huh, does "my ass" sound appropriate right here, or perhaps a /facepalm.

5. As said installing from a mounted image is not a valid installation to get help here from.

6. Try to help? Do more research before you open your mouth.

And before you go into a "brooklyn" rage epidemic, just remember this your not above the rules. And if you cry at a simple query that I made initially then yes forums like this are not for you.

Watch Joe close this thread >.< would be a shame though

all I will say to you is that we disagree on definitions and that you are a typical friggin yank. grow up numbnuts.

by the way I meant what I said - rocket surgery is called a pun of the 'english language' but you wouldn't know that seeing as you are from a populace that is so involved with itself that it feels it needs a derivation of an established language to make it feel good.

enjoy your forum trollboy as, thanks to you, I won't be back.

any mods out there that read this can feel free to del my account as I don't wish to be around scum like this.

Well, guys...
@Dab - My first comment was meant as a lil joke, hope u didnīt get me wrong here?

@ripjack.... Ouch, bro... Dab has no attitude... More than 4.500+ posts... He helps people a lot! Maybe, we ARE from tíme to time to suspicious, but as dozens of 1st posters get banned because of breaking the rules (and to be fair, you also broke them) and talking of warez, this behaviour is very understandable!

Please no more flaming, k?

Grx

1. Im not american. Im scottish. Which was what most of australia has roots too.

2. Dont correct yourself on the rocket surgery. You mentioned it in 2 different posts. You have failed epically.

3. Im not a troll, if you cant handle a simple question without going into a rage like you have shown again then yeah this place is not for you. Next forum you come along my suggestion to you is read the rules, that way you wont look like a prat.

4. Im scum? LOL. Amazing and you didnt see who I am and who I have helped and helped in what manner. You have no clue. Bon Voyage.

I made a mistake by not closing the thread, being against forum rule #1, right away because I thought something useful would come out of it. The lesson to me: there really is NO EXCEPTION to the rules!

Thread closed. The the original poster: Please, try again on a PC that does have a CD/DVD drive. If you still get the same problem, PM me to re-open the thread.
