Newbie question

Hopefully you all understand me because english isn't my native language. But here are my questions:

1. What is a patch?
2. I heard that you don't need a patch if you juse clonecd. is this true?
3. What's the best way to make a copy of a psx game? And how do you do it?

If you haven't noticed, I don't understand much about the coping stuff. So if someone could help me I would be pleased. And please try to keep the english as simple as possible.

Yeah if your burner is fully compatible wiyh clone then you dont need to patch a psx game unless it has modchip protection on it.And a patch is a file that gets past the protection on the original game cd.If you get stuck give me a ping i know how frustrating it can be when you first start out.
