Yes you need the NEO2 chip best place to get it is either www.playstationmods.com or www.kanection.co.uk both offer installation service both very reliable and both in th UK.
and yes for PS2 games you need the Action Replay boot disk available from the sites above but you dont need the boot disk to play your old psx backups Hope this puts your mind at rest
