PS2 neo2 mod chips

Has anyone tried the new neo2 mod chip for the PS2? Do you still have to do the swap trick with this chip? Playstationmods.com sells the chip but doesnt say if the swap trick is still required to play PSX or PS2 backups! I already got suckered into buying chips from www.modchips.com that didnt work on the us system so any info would be appreciated.

hi m8 i have had the neo 2 chip fitted while i waited at playstationmods.com and it works great
on psx games you just stick em in and of they go.
with ps2 games you need action replay on pal machine and game shark on usa machine all supplied by playstationmods.com all you do is put in AReplay disk or GShark disk select start game the press eject take out boot disk put in backup disk and press X to start game how easy could it be....trust me it works and its safe....

hate to rain on such great news on the neo2 chip; but I've been to playstationmods.com and I didn't see anything about getting the Gameshark2 disk with the order of the Neo2 modchip for US playstation2's......I think you should do some more research before purchasing any modchip from any modchip distributor....I've already spent some funds on a chip from modchip.com and everywhere I've been they all sound the same.....You still will have to patch all backups and You will still have to do a swap trick with some kind of utility bootdisk....either with the original "BootDisk", "Unreal Tournament". or "GameShark2 Disk".......let me know what works for you because I'm still undecided about which path to take for myself.....

Listen Tomcat, I've done lots of research and yes I know that the good old gameshark2/Action Replay2 originated from the United Kingdom; but don't let them fool you on that neo2 chip....your backup on psx and ps2 games are working fine and dandy for you(and thats just wonderful); but my statement wasn't meant to piss you off. it was meant for us Americans to watch out and check everything out before making another wasteful purchase on a product that was full of hot air like Modchip.com's modchip.....And yes, I've called them and they don't ever call or return email (just like Modchip.com did)...so I am just advising my Fellow Americans to do enough research and get enough feed back before forking over good old american dollars to pompus money hungry rip off artists.....thank you very much.....

OK guys, I'm Diego, i have a US PS 2, after doing my research..
i think that all the patches are for PAL / EURO or UK or Japanese PS 2, in psxcopyworld.com !!!, i didn't find any patch for US games at all!!
so i think if i want to make a back up of any US game with all this NEO /Game Shark Stuff, i will need to make a copy of any import CD, i am right or wrong???
I just finished to buy from playstationmods, and i hope... hope hope, that this stuff work on my PS 2 US, because i don't want to waste $100.
I need to make work some games from japan in my PS 2, this is the list
Wining Eleven 4 , W E 2000 , and be ready for play the Wining Eleven 5 Coming in a few months,
also would like to know if any one has Gran Turismo for PS 2.
and another last question...
i Have Fifa 2001, if everything is ok... i need to make a back up with clone cd without PATCH,
or if i use CDRWIN where can i get a Patch of that game.. ?? because i don't see nothing on pscopyworld...
Thanks guys...

OK folks,

I finally got a reply from playstationmods.com and the purchase of a Neo2 modchip only gets you that much (no version of any Gameshark2)....but the good news is, you can purchase the gameshark2 over here at any local software/gamer store for the retail price somewhere around $49.99.....(for example: Gamestop.com aka: Funcoland)...anyways, I would be greatly appreciative for anyone that gets the Neo2 chip for a US Playstation2 with combination of the Gameshark2 if you would let me know how well it works..In the meantime I'm going to try this modchip from modchip.com with combo with Gameshark2 and let you guys know how that works...Will also be ordering a Neo2 by the end of the week....thanks and good luck PS2 Gamers
