Yes.

For me any Japan circuit or Drift Race won't load using the v1.2 No-DVD/Fixed EXE by Battery.
Wish there was another supplier to try.

RELOADED / DETONATION ???? PLEASE

Hi guys

I am trying to get Race driver grid to run after downloading it through the codemasters website via the Metaboli service. The first time I ran it, it prompted me to enter the serial number (which I did). The game then looked like it was starting and then nothing happened. After checking the forums I used the ‘run as administrator’ technique to get the game to run. However this time it started up I get the error “could not write licence data contact customer support for further instructions”. I believe this is a Securom issue. I am running XP64.

I have done the

1) Open the command line by pressing "Start" and selecting the "Run..." option.
2) Type "cmd" (without "s) and push the [Enter] button on the keyboard.
3) Please type in the following command:
rd /s "%APPDATA%\SecuROM"
and press [Enter] on the keyboard.
4) Answer Y to the Y/N question and press [Enter] to complete the process.

and this does not work either

I am patched to 1.2

Then I tried this site and I got the exe and now it is working, but crashes after the first race. AAARgh can anyone help?

Forget about the crack. Normally, you shouldn't have a need for it, if you've got your game through Metaboli, as the game once activated it will run fine from your HDD. So read that FAQ and if nothing works, contact the customer support as the game suggests.

bad idea.. unless you know what you're doing its NOT advisable to do this as you may successfully kill any other securom licensed products you have, meaning you may not be able to revoke etc, and you will get no support for doing so... you should have made a backup first at least...

Turbo a question did you actually buy the game?

And if so why ask us about it, when you could ask codemasters etc themselves?

DABhand, even Codemasters doesn't know why the game crashes on some machines.

In my PC the game crashes sometimes. Usually after finish the race (when the game is going to loading the next race or returning to the garage).
The console version also has some faults.
A good game with a good engine but 10,000+ files (with compressed data inside) in 1000+ folders must be too much for the game.

What worries me more is the fact they're going to use the same engine in the new F1 game.

Myself and a few members of our Gaming Clan play GRID. A few of us had nothing but trouble getting this game to work or keeping the game running using our original DVD's.
The NoCD cracks are more trouble than they are worth, they cause more crashes than using the orginal disc! A few of the clan members tried to say the v1.2 cracked exe by battery was working for them but sure enough just after they said that the game crashed for them. :P

What has worked for us is mounting a mini image into a more recent version of Daemon Tools. Game runs like a dream for me this way.
I am using Daemon Tools Pro v4.10.0218.0, no need for Y.A.S.U or anything else, just mount a mini image and play.

sounds a lot like the problems I had to get CMiRT runnig (also based on the same engine)

I finally opted for a clean install because I couldn't get comfortable with DiRT crashing all the time (sometimes hanging at loading screens, sometimes during races) it was weird and unsolvable.

so.. clean install for the win!

(I have absolutely no problem running DiRT and GRiD after my clean install)

Hi all,

Sorry I didnt reply earlier (I thought I had it set to notify me of replies). The game is legitimately downloaded (I paid £24 for the bloody thing so I wouldnt have to treck to town) through Metaboli. I think the problem here is 3 fold, 1 the game is shakey as hell - codemasters, two its been downlaoded bia a third party - metaboli and 3 its got insane copy protection on it. I havent had an answer from metaboli yet. I got an answer from Securrom saying the log file I sent then said it was working fine : / I'll ask Codemasters soon but I think they will be next to useless and it seems the porblem is securoms.

Yesss! Sorted it

Grid won't start at all and the solution (Windows 64-bit 4GB RAM)
I bought Grid on Steam, and the game wouldn't launch. (No error message. The grid.exe process would just quit instantly.)

What fixed the problem was adding -novirtual to the startup options.

If you're using the cd version of the game, right-click on the shortcut on the desktop and click properties. On the Shortcut tab in the "Target" field add -novirtual to the end.

If you're using the Steam version, right-click on the game in the Games tab and click properties. Click "Set launch options" and type -novirtual and click OK.

You may only need to do this if you are experiencing a problem starting the game and are running Windows XP/Vista 64-bit with 4GB or more RAM.

Thanks for the tips guys

i think the '-novirtual' thing is relative to the game, and won't be a solution for other games on x64 os'es with >4gb ram, i've actually had no problems on my systems, and they've got 6gb and 8gb... so i think the issue is game related... crappy coding probably..
