Grid - can it play from backup?
Hello, I made a copy of Grid using CloneCD but it does not fool the game, it still asks for the original. I also have downloaded a crack which allows me to play it without the CD, but I would rather use the original Grid.exe than the cracked one. Is there a way I can use my backup DVD?

Read the PC Games forum FAQ for (links to) backup guides.

Use Daemon Tools Pro and New SecuROM profile to create a valid image.
CloneCD can't backup SecuROM.

Hello
I used alcohol 120% trial and made a copy of Assassin's Creed (uses SecuRom like Grid) and it works as long as the alcohol agent with RMPS is running. The same backup will also work is DeamonTools Lite or Pro is running with RMPS. That means that this "RMPS" is some sort of standard. Based on the above, is there an option to skip the "DPM IMaging Process" which seems to take for ever, as I presume once one person does it he could then share some sort of key with the rest of us? |

Assassin's Creed is using SafeDisc and doesn't require RMPS unless you burn the image.

Yes I did burn the image to a backup DVD.
Is there another way to play the game??? Edit: Ooops! Grid can play from a mounted image! Amazing. I still prefer the backup solution though. Trying to find if DeamonTools will burn that image for me? Can I use Nero to burn that image if it does not? BTW I used Daemon Tools to make an image of Grid and it took more than 1.5 hours.

DAEMON Tools can't burn at all. No, Nero doesn't recognize mds/mdf, use Alcohol 120% to burn these files with the proper profile.
Regarding the disc imaging time: Ensure you are using the latest DAEMON Tools Pro version and DMA is activated.

May I ask, if I need alcohol to burn the CD, and alcohol can also be used to make an image , why would I need Deamon Tools? I'd rather buy just one set of tools when my trial period expires.

Well, DT Pro can handle Emulation and Image creation better than Alcohol.

So I need to buy Alcohol for burning DVD backups and I also need to buy DT Pro for creating images? Is there ar free tool that will allow me to burn those images?

With Virtual CD V9 it works and it's better than Alcohol, because it's not blacklistet.
