Gears of War error - Please double-click startup.exe.

With 1.1 Patch and crack the game gives me an error saying I have to double-click startup.exe... but the .exe itself and double clicking it only makes the same error appear.

Does using the original game disc and 1.1 patch work WITHOUT the crack?

Yes, I think its Hamachi Fix that does that...

So the crack doesn't work but the original does? Sounds like the crack is bad or other files are checking the file is valid.

Hi folks.

While searching the web to solve the problem listed above, I found this thread.

I have the same problem. Everytime I want to start the game, there will be the message "double click on Startup.exe" no matter how I want to start the game (shortcut/startup.exe (PC/DVD) and so on). I tried to install all available patches after another (1.1 and 1.2) used crakcs, incase of an corrupted original file - nothing helped. I reinstalled the game about 8 times.
after the last installing process there were a "finish installation-buitton" for the first time. but the problem still exists.
latest microsoft live on board.

I Use Win XP Prof. SP 2 latest patches
AMD 64 4000+
GeForce 7600

Called Microsoft Support Hotline - but the game is noch supported in germany. I'm helpless.... what can I do - plz help
