The Witcher orig.

Hello,

I bought the witcher original and have the problem that the game is not accepting my original dvd.
I tried to uninstall all emulation software and install the game new (with patch 1.1a). Unfortunately I have the same problem. Why donīt the game start even with the original dvd?
Then I took a free hard disk and installed windows new for my computer, installes the game, patched it and this wonīt work too.
A virtual windows machine under linux also will not accept my original dvd.
Tried the mini image with DT pro advanced (orig.) and it worked once but never again.
I also tried the russian fixed exe. This works but no dialogue will work.
Iīm frustrated because I bought this game and canīt pay it. This is not fair.
Someone can help?

whats the exact problem? do you get some error message? if so, paste it
and if you're have the original game, then also contacting the game technical support department might also be useful too....

Contact Atari support since you could have a defective DVD.
Also try to install on other PC to check if is maybe your DVD drive.

Have contacted atatri. No reply since days.
Have tried 5 different dvd drives, 3 roms and 2 writers.
Tried with new tages version (5.5), same problem.
Read official forum and tried all the ideas other have. No change.

You have options.

1. Uninstall keep save games, and reinstall without the patch.

2. Write Atari (publishers) a nice letter letting them know, if they dont reply or help you soon they will have a nice Witcher game being sent to them for full compo.

I've had similar problem but it was connected with using process explorer tool - SecuRom bans it and you won't start game if you run it before. Restart system and just run the game. Other possibilities - disable virtual drives and close program and at last it can be problem with your drive.

even for securom banning stuff, you're given an error code
if magicnose got an error code, he should have either checked the link be clicking on it, contacted the support dept for the game, or pasted the error code here... which would give us something more to work on...

I have the exact same error with my original disc, no matter the drive or computer, it just doesnt work. I've also contacted both atari and CD Projekt RED with no relpy what-so-ever. Im going to go by the retailer today to see if i can get a new game but i doubt it since it was almost 2 weeks since i bought it. Seems like Atari and CD Projekt RED just ignores it, obviously since there are lots of people with this error and it would be kinda expensive on their part to replace all the DVD's.

I can still play with the russian fixed exe, everything works fine with it, but i still feel blown off since they wont even give me an answer on my problem. If you go on the official support forum there are alot of people there that are really pissed off because some cant even install the game, dont know if maybe they've used bad DVD's when they made the game in the first place.

Its a shame really since this game is really, really good. Certainly one the sleeper hits of the year in the RPG genre.

According to the forum:
"The Witcher protection system does not support any kind of emulation software such as e.g. CloneCD or DaemonTools. Using it may result in non-detecting a dvd with the game. Also try downloading drivers for Tages from http://www.tagesprotection.com/5.5.htm Unistall older drivers, start The Witcher and allow Tages to install newer ones."
If you have DT or similar, remove it and try.
I Don't see people complaining with loading or install problems. Point me the forum thread so I can help you.

I've updated tages numerous times with no success, and removed both DT and Alcohol, i've even went into the registry to remove every key left by those programs, with no success. Here are some topics from the official forums:

I've been reading the forums thread you gave me.
They shows solutions there but some of those solutions requires buying 3rd party software.
In GCW, there's a No-CD crack for the Witcher. Try It.

Yeah i've been using the crack for the past week so im able to play but it still feels wrong having to use a crack to play a game i paid for, like i've been scammed since they wont even answer my e-mails, probobly thinking im using pirate software or a downloaded version or whatever. And i've bought products associated with Atari before and that time too, the customer support was awful. Sad really, since obiously they publish good games.

Yes you are right even tho I would still prefer to use a NoCD crack to play but you would think the game would work with the original disc!
It does however justify the existence of GCW.

Why dont you just post on the official forums something like this:

"Like me, if you cant play using your original disc, and also like me you are NOT getting a reply from Atari, then visit gamecopyworld.com to get a NoCD Crack which will allow you to play your game!"

That should guarantee you get a quick response from Atari.
